Train with Abby
Nine seasons of provincial, league and university hockey — now coaching the next group of players.
About me
Hockey has been the whole story
I have played goalkeeper since the age of 10, and it is still the only position I want to be in. Twelve seasons on, the reason has not really changed, it is the one place on the field where you can decide a game on your own.
Most of that has been in the Vaal and Northern Free State. Provincial sides from u/13 through to u/21, a tour to the Netherlands with ECHS, captain at Sasol High School, and seven straight seasons in the premier league at North-West University. I am still playing every week, and that matters because nothing I teach is something I stopped doing years ago.
What I care about as a coach is that you understand your own game. I am not trying to make you keep the way I keep. I want you to know why you were beaten, what to change, and what it is supposed to feel like when you get it right. That is my goal, and I will work with you until you get there.
A session with me is direct and busy. We talk first, we work, and you get told what went wrong and why rather than just being sent back to do it again. You leave with something specific to take back to your club.
